Bleeding control device

Abstract

Bleeding control devices, systems and methods for mitigating bleeding from a wound of a patient. The bleeding control device includes a housing and inflatable balloon. The housing defines a tool opening that allows for insertion of a tool of the bleeding control system from one side of the housing to extend through the housing and beyond a second, opposite side of the housing and into the inflatable balloon. A user of a rod tool or inflation tube tool (or catheter) can manipulate the tool within the inflatable balloon to navigate the inflatable balloon within a wound of a patient before, during and/or after inflation of the inflatable balloon in order to mitigate bleeding of the patient. A strap for use with a bleeding control device that is configured to provide external pressure on an abdomen of the patient while the bleeding control device provides pressure internally within the abdomen.
