Abstract
Apparatus for use with tissue of a heart of a subject, the apparatus comprising a textile, a tether, and a tool. The tether extends through the textile. The tool is transluminally advanceable into the heart of the subject, and comprises, at a distal end thereof, multiple barbs. While the textile contacts the tissue, the multiple barbs are adapted to fix the textile to the tissue by repeatedly (i) moving distally through the textile and into the tissue to draw fibers of the textile into the tissue; and (ii) moving proximally out of the tissue and the textile, while leaving the fibers remaining within the tissue. Other embodiments are also described.
Claims20
An apparatus for use with tissue of a heart of a subject, the apparatus comprising:
- a textile;
- a tether extending through the textile;
- and
- a tool transluminally advanceable into the heart of the subject, the tool comprising, at a distal end thereof, multiple barbs,
- wherein, while the textile contacts the tissue, the tool is adapted to secure the textile to the tissue by repeatedly:
- extending the barbs through the textile and into the tissue to draw fibers of the textile into the tissue;
- and
- retracting the barbs out of the tissue and the textile, while leaving the fibers remaining within the tissue.
An apparatus for use with tissue of a heart of a subject, the apparatus comprising:
- a textile;
- a tool comprising:
- a drivebelt that defines multiple barbs at a distal end of the tool;
- and
- a catheter, adapted to transluminally advance the textile and the drivebelt into the heart while the textile is operatively coupled to the drivebelt,
- wherein, within the heart, via pulling of the drivebelt, the tool is configured to synchronously:
- progressively position successive portions of the textile into contact with the tissue;
- and
- progressively secure the successive portions of the textile to the tissue by driving the barbs through the textile and into the tissue.
Apparatus, for use with tissue of a heart of a subject, the apparatus comprising:
- an elongate textile;
- and
- a tool in which the textile is loaded, the tool configured to transluminally advance the textile to the heart, and comprising, multiple barbs at a distal part of the tool, wherein the tool is configured to mechanically synchronize (a) feeding of the textile out of the tool and onto the tissue with (b) driving of the barbs through the textile and into the tissue.
