Method and system for oral imaging

Abstract

Disclosed are a system and a method for oral imaging. The system includes a hand piece, an optical arrangement, and a sensor. The hand piece includes a distal optical passage and a proximal optical passage. The distal optical passage is located at a distal end of the hand piece configured to be located within a patient's mouth. The proximal optical passage is located at the proximal end of the hand piece configured to be located outside of the patient's mouth. The optical arrangement is configured in optical communication with the proximal optical passage and the distal optical passage. The optical arrangement is configured to view dental tissue, via the proximal optical passage and the distal optical passage. The lens arrangement is configured to form an optical image of the dental tissue. The sensor is connected in optical communication with the optical arrangement and configured to detect the optical image of the dental tissue. The sensor is further configured to generate a digital image of the dental tissue, as a function of the optical image of the dental tissue.
