A bending mechanism extending along an axis from a first side to a second side includes a first tube bendable by a wire being pulled, a cylindrical first guide disposed in the first tube along the axis to guide the wire, a second guide coupled to the first tube to hold the first guide, a second tube disposed along the axis closer to the first side than the first tube, and a third guide disposed in the second tube along the axis. The first guide is inserted into the third guide and extends beyond a first-side end of the first tube to an intermediate position in the third guide. A portion of the first guide inside the third guide has, when the first tube is straight, a length sufficient to maintain a first-side end of the first guide inside the third guide even when the first tube is bent.
