Abstract
A method of operating a smart kitchen appliance and a dishwasher where the smart kitchen appliance comprising a microphone for monitoring sounds generated around the smart kitchen appliance and a communication module in operative communication with a remote appliance. The method includes determining that the dishwasher is performing a cleaning procedure, obtaining a sound signal using the microphone, identifying an adverse operating condition of the remote appliance by determining that the sound signal corresponds to a predetermined sound signal, and implementing a responsive action in response to identifying the adverse operating condition.
Claims20
A smart kitchen appliance, comprising:
- a microphone for monitoring sounds generated around the smart kitchen appliance;
- a communication module in operative communication with a remote appliance;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- determine that the remote appliance is performing a procedure;
- obtain a sound signal using the microphone;
- identify an adverse operating condition of the remote appliance by determining that the sound signal corresponds to a predetermined sound signature;
- and
- implement a responsive action in response to identifying the adverse operating condition.
A dishwasher appliance, comprising:
- a wash tub defining a wash chamber;
- a spray arm rotatably mounted within the wash tub for selectively rotating and spraying a flow of wash fluid within the wash chamber;
- a pump assembly for selectively urging a flow of wash fluid;
- a communication module in operative communication with a remote kitchen appliance, the remote kitchen appliance comprising a microphone for monitoring sounds generated around the remote kitchen appliance;
- and
- a controller in operative communication with the communication module, the controller being configured to:
- operate the pump assembly to provide the flow of wash fluid to the spray arm and rotate the spray arm;
- obtain a notification of an adverse operating condition from the remote kitchen appliance, the adverse operating condition being identified when a sound signal obtained by the microphone of the remote kitchen appliance corresponds to a predetermined sound signature;
- and
- implement a responsive action in response to obtaining the notification of the adverse operating condition.
A method of operating a smart kitchen appliance, the smart kitchen appliance comprising a microphone for monitoring sounds generated around the smart kitchen appliance and a communication module in operative communication with a remote appliance, the method comprising:
- determining that the remote appliance is performing a procedure;
- obtaining a sound signal using the microphone;
- identifying an adverse operating condition of the remote appliance by determining that the sound signal corresponds to a predetermined sound signature;
- and
- implementing a responsive action in response to identifying the adverse operating condition.
