Beverage preparation capsule

A beverage preparation capsule containing a beverage preparation ingredient, the capsule comprising:

• a body defining a beverage ingredient chamber and a beverage outlet chamber;
• a transverse seal extending across the body between the beverage ingredient chamber and the beverage outlet chamber, the transverse seal including a gap providing fluid communication between the beverage ingredient chamber and the beverage outlet chamber;
• and
• a filter strip extending across the capsule to provide a filter element in the gap;
• wherein opposed portions of the filter strip are secured to the body within the transverse seal, and the filter strip does not extend into the beverage ingredient chamber above the transverse seal.

A beverage preparation capsule containing a beverage preparation ingredient, the capsule comprising:

• a body defining a beverage ingredient chamber and a beverage outlet chamber;
• a transverse seal extending across the body between the beverage ingredient chamber and the beverage outlet chamber, the transverse seal including a gap providing fluid communication between the beverage ingredient chamber and the beverage outlet chamber;
• a releasable outlet seal located at an outlet of the beverage outlet chamber;
• and
• a filter strip extending across the capsule and positioned in the gap;
• wherein a first portion of the filter strip is secured to the body within the transverse seal and a second portion of the filter strip is bonded within the releasable outlet seal.
