A reinforcing cover for a surface-mounted support bracket is disclosed. The cover includes a front wall and side walls configured to engage the bracket and conceal mounting fasteners. When installed, the cover provides structural reinforcement to a transition region between a surface-mounting portion and an extender portion of the bracket. The cover may include optional alignment features, such as a pin configured to engage an opening in the bracket, or may attach using snap-fit or friction-fit engagement surfaces. The side walls are shaped to transfer load between portions of the bracket, reducing bending and increasing rigidity.
