The materials are lightweight, waterproof, mold-resistant, anti-abrasion, and heat-retardant, with optional reflective elements for identification.
Claims23
A wearable portable radio carrying system attached to a radio strap, comprised of abrasion resistant and fire-retardant materials, the system comprising:
- a radio holster comprising:
- an amount of fabric forming a shape suitable for a portable radio to be inserted, protecting one or more sides by covering with the fabric;
- attachment hardware to maintain the shape and allow for attaching of other accessories to the radio holster;
- and a cord to removably retain a radio in the radio holster;
- a radio strap comprising:
- a middle section with belt sliders for length adjustments, with a cobra buckle for quick removal, and mic loops and attachment components to releasably hold a microphone, small tools, glasses, and markers;
- two opposite ends of the radio strap each with a spring hook and means to hold the spring hook to each of the ends of the radio strap;
- a radio holster with attachment rings to accept and releasably secure each of the rings on the radio holster to the spring hook;
- and an anti-sway strap with a cobra buckle to quickly remove the anti-sway strap from the user, with one end of the anti-sway strap having a snap loop to secure the strap to a belt of the user, and an opposite end of the anti-sway strap having a spring hook to removably secure the anti-sway strap to the radio strap at the radio holster.
An anti-sway strap for stabilizing a wearable portable radio carrying system worn by a user, the anti-sway strap comprised of abrasion resistant and fire-retardant materials and comprising:
- a strap body having a first end and a second end;
- a mini cobra buckle positioned along the strap body, the mini cobra buckle configured for quick release and length adjustment to hold the radio carrying system flat against the user's body;
- a belt closure at the first end, the belt closure including snaps to removably secure the anti-sway strap around a belt of the user;
- and a spring hook at the second end configured to removably attach to either a radio strap or a radio holster of the radio carrying system.
A method of assembling and using a wearable portable radio carrying system, the method comprising:
- providing a radio holster formed from abrasion resistant and fire-retardant fabric, the radio holster shaped to receive a portable radio and including a hold-down cord to retain the radio;
- attaching a radio strap to the radio holster using spring hooks engaged with attachment rings on the radio holster, the radio strap having a middle section with belt sliders for length adjustment, a cobra buckle for quick removal, and mic loops;
- securing an anti-sway strap to a user's belt using a snap loop at one end and to the radio strap at the radio holster using a spring hook at the opposite end;
- adjusting the length of the radio strap and anti-sway strap for fit;
- and inserting the portable radio into the radio holster and securing it with the hold-down cord.
