A button assembly configured for a button attachment on a cloth;
- wherein the button assembly comprises a buttoning structure and a retaining structure;
- wherein the retaining structure comprises:
- a cone, a pole and a retaining plate;
- wherein the cone has a cone's pointed upper end and a cone's bottom end which is horizontal and planar;
- wherein the pole has a pole's upper end and a pole's lower end;
- wherein the pole's upper end is attached to the cone's bottom end;
- wherein the retaining plate has an upper retaining plane which is attached to the pole's lower end;
- wherein a piercing structure is defined as a joint structure of the cone attached to the pole;
- wherein the buttoning structure comprises:
- the button, a polygonal pipe and a locking mechanism;
- wherein the button includes a button's lower face and a button's upper face;
- wherein the polygonal pipe has ξ≥3 polygonal sides wherein each polygonal side's length is Ø;
- wherein the polygonal pipe includes a polygonal pipe's upper opening and a polygonal pipe's lower opening;
- wherein the button's lower face is attached to the polygonal pipe's upper opening;
- wherein the locking mechanism includes a multiplicity of ξ flaps;
- wherein all the flaps have identical shapes;
- wherein each flap is shaped as a planar, triangular plate, made of a resilient material;
- wherein each flap has a pair of symmetric sides each having a length of Ω wherein each flap has a basis side having a length of Ø;
- wherein the locking mechanism is constructed using the multiplicity of ξ flaps which are constructed as a ξ faced pyramid;
- wherein all ξ of the basis sides included in the ξ faced pyramid are concatenated as a planar polygon which serves as a basis for the ξ faced pyramid;
- wherein all ξ of the basis sides where each having the length of Ø are attached to the polygonal pipe's lower opening such that the ξ faced pyramid is constructed inside the polygonal pipe pointing upwards;
- the button assembly is configured to facilitate attachment of the button on the cloth by placing the polygonal pipe's lower opening above the cloth such that the polygonal pipe's lower opening is facing an upper side of the cloth;
- next, placing the retaining structure beneath the cloth facing a lower side of the cloth
- such that the piercing structure is situated opposite to the polygonal pipe's lower opening;
- next, pushing the piercing structure upwards, starting from the lower side of the cloth, an action which is configured to pierce and penetrate the cloth by the cone's pointed upper end and also is configured to insert the piercing structure upwards via the polygonal pipe's lower opening upwards into the polygonal pipe;
- wherein moving upwards the piercing structure via the polygonal pipe's lower opening is configured to push and bend outwards the multiplicity of ξ flaps which are constructed inside the polygonal pipe in the ξ faced pyramidal configuration;
- in this ξ faced pyramidal configuration all the flaps are in a slanted orientation with respect to a vertical upwards motion direction of the piercing structure;
- each flap in this ξ faced pyramidal configuration is triangular and has a top vertex between the pair of symmetric sides;
- wherein all the top vertices are configured to meet at a pyramidal peak;
- wherein, each flap tends to move outwards when pushed by the piercing structure that moves vertically upwards;
- while the piercing structure moves upwards it pushes outwards all the flaps;
- and since the flaps are attached at their basis sides to the polygonal pipe's lower opening, the flaps tend to turn outwards while bending outwards when pushed vertically upwards
- by the piercing structure;
- wherein, the piercing structure's upwards motion continues until the cone's bottom end moves above the top vertices;
- of a bent flaps;
- at that instant, the bent flaps are freed from the cone's pushing which forced their bending;
- next, the bent flaps are free to unbend;
- next, the bent flaps unbend and move inwards until they diagonally rest on top of the pole below the cone's bottom end;
- thereby trapping inside the polygonal pipe, the cone's bottom end by preventing any translation downwards;
- at that instant, the cone is trapped inside the polygonal pipe since the cone's downwards translation is being blocked by the flaps resting on top of the pole;
- trapping the cone also results in trapping the entire retaining structure which is attached to the cone;
- at this situation the locking mechanism has been activated and attach the retaining structure to the buttoning structure;
- since the buttoning structure is attached to the button while the retaining structure is attached to the cloth by the retaining plate;
- thereby, the button is attached to the cloth.
