Abstract
Roofing safety pants comprising a pair of open-faced pockets extending from an area above the knee to below the shin of a user, a removable padding insert which is introduced through a top access opening of each open-faced pocket, the padding material being formed with an outer anti-slip surface which is exposed through the pocket opening. The roofing safety pants further may comprise similar open-faced pockets on each buttocks area, and optionally an adjustable stirrup strap attached to the lower or cuff portion of each pant leg. The open-faced design of the pockets allows the padding material to contact directly a work surface, enhancing the gripping ability and stability for the user working on a sloped roof.
Claims19
Roofing safety pants having a pant body with two pant legs, each of said two pant legs having a proximal end, a distal end having a lower cuff portion, and a buttocks area, each pant leg comprising:
- a. a knee-shin pocket having a length perpendicular to said pant leg and a width horizontal to said pant leg, a border integrating said knee-shin pocket within said pant leg, a knee-shin pad opening integrated within said knee-shin pocket, said knee-shin pad opening having a length less than the length of said knee-shin pocket and a width less than the width of said knee-shin pocket, an access opening, said access opening providing access to said knee-shin pad opening, and a fastening closure adapted to detachably close said access opening, and
- b. a removable protective pad composed of a closed-cell foam material having an outer anti-slip surface,
- wherein said removable protective pad is configured to be slidably introduced into said access opening of said knee-shin pocket in such a manner that most of the surface area of said outer anti-slip surface of said removable protective pad is exposed through said knee-shin pad opening of said knee-shin pocket such that said outer anti-slip surface of said removable protective pad grips the surface upon which a user wearing said roofing safety pants is disposed in a kneeling position.
Roofing safety pants adapted to be worn by a user performing work on a sloped surface in a kneeling position and in a seated position, said roofing safety pants having a pant body with two pant legs, each of said two pant legs having a proximal end, a distal end having a lower cuff portion, and a buttocks area, each pant leg comprising:
- a. knee-shin pocket, a border integrating said knee-shin pocket within said pant leg, a knee-shin pad opening integrated within said knee-shin pocket, an access opening providing access to said knee-shin pocket, and a fastening closure adapted to detachably close said access opening;
- b. a buttock pocket, a buttock pocket border disposed on each buttock of said buttocks area, said buttock pocket border integrating said buttock pocket within said buttocks area, a buttock pocket pad opening integrated with said buttock pocket, a buttock pocket access opening providing access to said buttock pocket pad opening, and a bucket pocket fastener adapted to detachably close said bucket pocket access opening, and
- c. a first removable protective pad composed of a closed-cell foam material having an outer anti-slip surface, and a second removable protective pad composed of a closed-cell foam material having an outer anti-slip surface,
- wherein said first removable protective pad is configured to be slidably introduced into said access opening of said knee-shin pocket in such a manner that most of the surface area of said outer anti-slip surface of said removable protective pad is exposed through said knee-shin pad opening of said knee-shin pocket such that said outer anti-slip surface of said first removable protective paid grips said sloped surface upon which a user wearing said roofing safety pants is disposed in a kneeling position, and
- wherein said second removable protective pad is configured to be slidably introduced into said buttock pocket access opening in such a manner that most of the surface area of said outer surface of said second removable protective pad is exposed through said buttock pocket pad of said buttock pocket such that said outer anti-slip surface of said second removable protective pad grips said sloped surface upon which a user wearing said roofing safety pants is disposed in a seated position.
