System for dual line spraying of an agricultural field

An agricultural spray system comprising:

• an agricultural vehicle;
• a broadcast tank mounted on the agricultural vehicle, the broadcast tank having a first volumetric capacity for holding one or more general-application liquid chemicals;
• one or more selective-spot spray (SSP) tanks mounted on the agricultural vehicle, the one or more SSP tanks having a combined volumetric capacity for holding one or more specific liquid chemicals for treating one or more target plants, the combined volumetric capacity lower than the first volumetric capacity;
• a spray boom attached to the agricultural vehicle;
• a plurality of broadcast nozzles mounted on the spray boom, the broadcast nozzles fluidly coupled to the broadcast tank and not to the one or more SSP tanks;
• and
• a plurality of SSP nozzles mounted on the spray boom, the SSP nozzles fluidly coupled to the one or more SSP tanks and not to the broadcast tank,
• wherein the first volumetric capacity and the combined volumetric capacity are configured such that, after the broadcast tank and the one or more SSP tanks have been filled to respective full conditions, the one or more general-application liquid chemicals in the broadcast tank and the one or more specific liquid chemicals in the one or more SSP tanks are consumed, on average, at approximately the same relative rate during operation of the agricultural sprayer system.

An agricultural spray system comprising:

• a spray boom;
• a plurality of broadcast nozzles mounted on the spray boom;
• a plurality of SSP nozzles mounted on the spray boom;
• a broadcast tank having a first volumetric capacity for holding one or more general-application liquid chemicals;
• at least one selective-spot spray (SSP) tank having a collective volumetric capacity for holding one or more specific liquid chemicals for treating one or more target plants, the collective volumetric capacity lower than the first volumetric capacity;
• one or more first fluid lines that fluidly couple the broadcast nozzles and the broadcast tank;
• and
• one or more second fluid lines that fluidly couple the SSP nozzles and the at least one SSP tank, the one or more second fluid lines separate from the one or more first fluid lines,
• wherein the first volumetric capacity and the collective volumetric capacity are configured such that, after the broadcast tank and the one or more SSP tanks have been filled to respective full conditions, the broadcast tank and the one or more SSP tanks are emptied, on average, at approximately the same time during operation of the agricultural sprayer system.

A retrofit agricultural spray system comprising:

• an agricultural vehicle having a broadcast tank mounted thereon, the broadcast tank having a first volumetric capacity for holding one or more general-application liquid chemicals;
• a selective-spot spray (SSP) tank retrofitly mounted on the agricultural vehicle, the SSP tank having a second volumetric capacity for holding one or more specific liquid chemicals for treating one or more target plants, the second volumetric capacity lower than the first volumetric capacity;
• a spray boom attached to the agricultural vehicle, the spray boom including a plurality of broadcast nozzles mounted on the spray boom;
• a plurality of SSP nozzles retrofitly mounted on the spray boom;
• one or more first fluid lines that fluidly couple the broadcast nozzles and the broadcast tank;
• and
• one or more second fluid lines that fluidly couple the SSP nozzles and the SSP tank, the one or more second fluid lines separate from the one or more first fluid lines,
• wherein the first volumetric capacity and the second volumetric capacity are configured such that, after the broadcast tank and the SSP tank have been filled to respective full conditions, the one or more general-application liquid chemicals in the broadcast tank and the one or more specific liquid chemicals in the SSP tank are consumed, on average, at approximately the same relative rate during operation of the retrofit agricultural sprayer system.
