Abstract
A fishing lure device including a weight, a weight shaft extending from the weight and terminating in a shaft eye configured for attachment of a fishing line, and a hook having a hook eye that encircles the weight shaft between the weight and the shaft eye, wherein the hook eye is freely rotatable around the weight shaft. The shaft eye may have a diameter larger than an internal diameter of the hook eye such that the shaft eye retains the hook eye on the weight shaft. A bait may be attached to the hook. The bait may be a buoyant elastomeric lure configured to maintain an upward orientation when the weight rests on a bottom substrate. The freely rotatable connection between the hook eye and the weight shaft permits the hook to move independently of the weight in response to water currents.
Claims20
A fishing lure device, comprising:
- a weight;
- a weight shaft extending from the weight and terminating in a shaft eye configured for attachment of a fishing line;
- and
- a hook having a hook eye that encircles the weight shaft between the weight and the shaft eye, wherein the hook eye is freely rotatable around the weight shaft.
A method of fishing, comprising:
- providing a fishing lure device comprising a weight, a weight shaft extending from the weight and terminating in a shaft eye, and a hook having a hook eye that encircles the weight shaft between the weight and the shaft eye, wherein the hook eye is freely rotatable around the weight shaft;
- attaching a fishing line to the shaft eye;
- casting the fishing lure device into a body of water;
- and
- allowing the weight to rest on a bottom substrate of the body of water.
A fishing lure device, comprising:
- a weight configured to rest on a bottom substrate of a body of water;
- a weight shaft having a first end connected to the weight and a second end opposite the first end, the second end having a shaft eye configured for attachment of a fishing line;
- and
- a hook comprising a hook eye and a hook tip, the hook eye encircling the weight shaft between the weight and the shaft eye such that the hook is freely rotatable around the weight shaft and freely pivotable along an axis of the weight shaft.
