Abstract

The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for providing for insects. Producing cost-effective, protein-rich and sustainable sources for the food and feed industries is one of the challenges of the new millennium, especially given the world's ever-growing population. It is the object of the invention presented here to increase the efficiency and ultimately the yield in the rearing of insects. The invention achieves this by means of an apparatus for providing for insects, comprising at least one vertical transport device and at least one horizontal transport device, wherein the at least one container can be moved in the vertical direction by means of the vertical transport device and in the horizontal direction by means of the horizontal transport device, and comprises a supply device with which a container content of the container and/or the container itself can be supplied. The apparatus according to the invention is characterized in that the horizontal transport device has a measuring device with which properties of the container that can be moved horizontally by means of the horizontal transport device and/or the container contents can be determined before, during and/or after the horizontal transport along a path of the horizontal transport device.
