A first functional layer (F1) of a light-emitting element (ES) according to the present disclosure has: a first portion (P1); and a second portion (P2) positioned outside the first portion (P1) of the first functional layer (F1). The second portion (P2) is thicker than the first portion (P1).

A light-emitting element, comprising:
- a bank;
- a first light reflective layer positioned above the bank;
- and
- a first functional layer positioned above the first reflective layer,
- wherein the first functional layer has:
- a first portion;
- and
- a second portion positioned outside the first portion of the first functional layer,
- the second portion being thicker than the first portion.

- a step of forming a bank;
- a step of forming a light reflective layer above the bank;

- a step of forming a functional layer above the light reflective layer,
