Abstract
A device for accessing channel in a wireless local area network is provided. The device receives a Request-to-Send (RTS) frame which is transmitted by a transmitting station that is not associated with the station's basic service set (BSS) in a first primary channel. When the RTS frame does not occupy a second primary channel, a network allocation vector (NAV) of the first primary channel is set but the second primary channel is idle, the device switches from the first primary channel to the second primary channel for initiating physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) transmission on the second primary channel.

A method for switching a channel in a wireless local area network, the method performed by a station which is a member of a basic service set (BSS) and comprising:
- receiving at least one of a first physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU), a second PPDU and a third PPDU on a BSS primary channel, the BSS primary channel being a common channel of operation for all stations that are members of the BSS,
- the first PPDU, the second PPDU and the third PPDU being inter-BSS PPDUs which are transmitted by at least one inter-BSS station which is not a member of the BSS,
- the first PPDU including an initial frame,
- the second PPDU including a response frame which is a response to the initial frame,
- the third PPDU being an PPDU following the second PPDU;
- and
- switching from the BSS primary channel to an alternative primary channel for a nonprimary channel access when channels occupied by the third PPDU does not overlap with the alternative primary channel.
A device for accessing channel in a wireless local area network, the device which is a member of a basic service set (BSS) and comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a memory operatively coupled with the processor and configured to store instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the device to perform functions comprising:
- receiving at least one of a first physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU), a second PPDU and a third PPDU on a BSS primary channel, the BSS primary channel being a common channel of operation for all stations that are members of the BSS,
- the first PPDU, the second PPDU and the third PPDU being inter-BSS PPDUs which are transmitted by at least one inter-BSS station which is not a member of the BSS,
- the first PPDU including an initial frame,
- the second PPDU including a response frame which is a response to the initial frame,
- the third PPDU being an PPDU following the second PPDU;
- and
- switching from the BSS primary channel to an alternative primary channel for a nonprimary channel access when channels occupied by the third PPDU does not overlap with the alternative primary channel.
