Abstract
A secure tiered, robust, and deterministic converged communications architecture with the capacity to support a plurality of power distribution automation devices/components with fiber-enabled fail-over protection is described.
Claims23
A system of a communication network, comprising:
- a first spine switch of the communication network;
- a second spine switch of the communication network;
- one or more leaf switches, each leaf switch of the one or more leaf switches coupled to both the first spine switch and the second spine switch via one or more fiber links thereby creating a one or more communication paths, wherein at least one leaf switch of the one or more leaf switches is configured to:
- monitor the one or more fiber links between the at least one leaf switch and the first spine switch and the second spine switch;
- determine that at least one communication path of the one or more communication paths to the first spine switch is unavailable;
- and
- redirect network traffic from the at least one unavailable communication path to at least one available communication path.
4 more elements
A method comprising:
- monitoring operating parameters of a plurality of communication infrastructure devices;
- determining, based on the operating parameters, a degradation condition indicative of a potential failure associated with a communication infrastructure device of the plurality of communication infrastructure devices;
- generating an alert identifying the communication infrastructure device associated with the degradation condition;
- and
- causing a maintenance process prior to an occurrence of the potential failure.
2 more elements
An apparatus comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- a memory storing processor-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:
- monitor operating parameters of a plurality of communication infrastructure devices;
- determine, based on the operating parameters, a degradation condition indicative of a potential failure associated with a communication infrastructure device of the plurality of communication infrastructure devices;
- generate an alert identifying the communication infrastructure device associated with the degradation condition;
- and
- cause a maintenance process prior to an occurrence of the potential failure.
