Medium conveyance apparatus and image reading apparatus

A medium conveyance apparatus comprising:

• a medium placement section on which a bundle of media is placed;
• a feed roller configured to apply feeding force in a conveyance direction to the media placed on the medium placement section by rotating in contact with the media;
• a separation roller configured to rotate in an opposite direction to a direction of the rotation of the feed roller to apply separation force to the media except a first medium which receives the feeding force out of the bundle of the media;
• and
• a controller configured to control operations of the feed roller and the separation roller, wherein
• the controller performs control such that a peripheral speed of the separation roller is equal to or higher than a peripheral speed of the feed roller during a predetermined period after the feed roller applies the feeding force to the first medium.
