Abstract
Protective cases for foldable mobile electronic devices with coplanar or recessed link structures are described. According to one embodiment, a case assembly comprises a first case and a second case, a side cover coupled to the first case and the side cover configured to rotate from a first position to a second position around a rotation axis of the first case, and a link structure formed coplanar with or recessed from a surrounding surface of the first case and second case and the link structure configured to connect the first case and the second case through a rail structure formed across the first case and the second case.

A case assembly for a foldable mobile electronic device, the case assembly comprising:
- a first case and a second case;
- a side cover coupled to the first case and the side cover configured to rotate from a first position to a second position around a rotation axis of the first case;
- and
- a link structure formed coplanar with or recessed from a surrounding surface of the first case and the second case and the link structure configured to connect the first case and the second case through a rail structure formed across the first case and the second case.
A case assembly for a foldable mobile electronic device, the case assembly comprising:
- a first case and a second case;
- a side cover coupled to the first case and the side cover configured to rotate from a first position to a second position around a rotation axis of the first case;
- a first groove formed on a first top portion of the first case adjacent to the side cover, wherein the first groove comprises a first hole formed thereof;
- a second groove formed on a second top portion of the second case adjacent to the side cover, wherein the second groove comprises a second hole formed thereof;
- and
- a link structure formed coplanar with or recessed from a surrounding surface of the first case and the second case and the link structure configured to connect the first case and the second case through a rail structure formed by the first groove and the second groove.
A case assembly for a foldable mobile electronic device, the case assembly comprising:
- a first case and a second case;
- a side cover coupled to the first case and the side cover configured to rotate from a first position to a second position around a rotation axis of the first case;
- a first groove formed on a first top portion of the first case adjacent to the side cover, wherein the first groove comprises a first hole formed thereof;
- a second groove formed on a second top portion of the second case adjacent to the side cover, wherein the second groove comprises a second hole formed thereof;
- and
- a link structure formed coplanar with or recessed from a surrounding surface of the first case and the second case and the link structure configured to connect the first case and the second case through a rail structure formed by the first groove and the second groove,
- wherein either the link structure or each of the first hole and the second hole is made of a soft material.
