A non-transitory computer readable medium containing instructions that when executed by at least one processor cause the at least one processor to perform operations for dynamically selecting egress locations in a network, the operations comprising:

• determining a first egress location for data transfer from a first server in the network to an application external to the network;
• sending network traffic to the external application via the first egress location;
• determining a first data transfer condition associated with the first egress location;
• determining at least one alternative data transfer condition associated with at least one alternative egress location and the external application;
• comparing the first data transfer condition with the alternative data transfer condition to ascertain whether the alternative data transfer condition constitutes an improvement;
• and
• when the alternative data transfer condition is ascertained to constitute an improvement, rerouting the network traffic to the external application via the at least one alternative egress location.

A system for dynamically selecting egress locations in a network, the system comprising:

• at least one processor configured to:
• determine a first egress location for data transfer from a first server in the network to an application external to the network;
• send network traffic to the external application via the first egress location;
• determining a first data transfer condition associated with the first egress location;
• determine at least one alternative data transfer condition associated with at least one alternative egress location and the external application;
• compare the first data transfer condition with the alternative data transfer condition to ascertain whether the alternative data transfer condition constitutes an improvement;
• and
• when the alternative data transfer condition is ascertained to constitute an improvement, reroute the network traffic to the external application via the at least one alternative egress location.

A method for dynamically selecting egress locations in a network, the method comprising:

• determining a first egress location for data transfer from a first server in the network to an application external to the network;
• sending network traffic to the external application via the first egress location;
• determining a first data transfer condition associated with the first egress location;
• determining at least one alternative data transfer condition associated with at least one alternative egress location and the external application;
• comparing the first data transfer condition with the alternative data transfer condition to ascertain whether the alternative data transfer condition constitutes an improvement;
• and
• when the alternative data transfer condition is ascertained to constitute an improvement, rerouting the network traffic to the external application via the at least one alternative egress location.
