A housing-free dynamoelectric rotary machine includes a stator having a substantially hollow cylindrical magnetically conductive body which includes a plurality of jaws which are distributed on an outer circumference of the magnetically conductive body and arranged in a shape of pincers such that two of the jaws in opposite relation to one another form an axially extending channel structure. A mounting element is receivable in the channel structure and moveable axially and/or about its own axis in the channel structure. A connecting element connects the mounting element to an add-on element in such a way that a complementary contact region of an outer section of the jaws and a corresponding surface of the add-on element result in at least one section to realize a wedge effect on the complementary contact region. A rotor mounted for rotation about an axis is spaced apart from the stator by an air gap.
