Electrical connector and connector assembly with improved shielding configurations

A connector assembly, comprising:

• an electrical connector comprising:
• a mounting frame, the mounting frame comprising a base plate portion and a mounting space, the base plate portion defines a plurality of module receiving holes;
• and
• a shielding module, the shielding module being at least partially received in the mounting space;
• the shielding module comprising a shielding shell assembly and a plurality of terminal modules;
• the shielding shell assembly defining a plurality of shielding cavities, the terminal modules being at least partially received in the shielding cavities;
• the module receiving holes corresponding to and communicating with the shielding cavities;
• and
• a mating connector comprising a plurality of metal shield enclosures;
• wherein the metal shield enclosures are configured to pass through the module receiving holes of the electrical connector to be at least partially received in the shielding cavities of the electrical connector.
