Shielding assembly, electrical connector and connector assembly with improved shielding configurations

An electrical connector, comprising:

• a mounting frame comprising a base plate portion and a mounting space, the base plate portion defining a plurality of module receiving holes;
• and
• a shielding module at least partially received in the mounting space, the shielding module comprising:
• a shielding shell assembly comprising a shielding side plate and a plurality of shielding pieces;
• the plurality of shielding pieces being secured to the shielding side plate;
• each shielding piece and the shielding side plate together forming a shielding cavity extending along a first direction;
• the plurality of shielding pieces are arranged along a second direction;
• two adjacent shielding cavities along the second direction being separated by at least two layers of wall portions of adjacent shielding pieces;
• and
• a plurality of terminal modules being at least partially received in the shielding cavities;
• wherein the module receiving holes correspond to and communicate with the shielding cavities.

A connector assembly, comprising:

• an electrical connector comprising:
• a mounting frame comprising a base plate portion and a mounting space, the base plate portion defining a plurality of module receiving holes;
• and
• a shielding module at least partially received in the mounting space, the shielding module comprising:
• a shielding shell assembly comprising a shielding side plate and a plurality of shielding pieces;
• the plurality of shielding pieces being secured to the shielding side plate;
• each shielding piece and the shielding side plate together forming a shielding cavity extending along a first direction;
• the plurality of shielding pieces are arranged along a second direction;
• two adjacent shielding cavities along the second direction being separated by at least two layers of wall portions of adjacent shielding pieces;
• and
• a plurality of terminal modules being at least partially received in the shielding cavities;
• wherein the module receiving holes correspond to and communicate with the shielding cavities;
• and
• a mating connector provided with a plurality of metal shield enclosures;
• wherein the metal shield enclosures are configured to pass through the module receiving holes of the electrical connector to be at least partially received in the shielding cavities of the electrical connector.
