Reliable, high performance electrical connector for flexible cable

An electrical connector comprising:

• a housing comprising a first portion and a second portion;
• a plurality of conductive terminals held in the first portion of the housing, each of the plurality of conductive terminals comprising a mating end, a tail configured for engaging a pad on an FFC, and an intermediate portion between the mating end and the tail, wherein:
• the second portion of the housing is configured to receive a connecting portion of a flexible cable comprising a plurality of contact pads;
• and
• the second portion of the housing is configured to engage the flexible cable such the tails of the plurality of conductive terminals engage respective contact pads of the plurality of contact pads of the flexible cable without wiping the respective contact pads.

An electrical connector comprising:

• a housing comprising an outer housing, and an inner housing configured to receive a connecting portion of a flexible cable;
• a plurality of conductive terminals held in the inner housing, each of the plurality of conductive terminals comprising a mating end, a tail comprising a contact portion configured to be electrically connected to a contact pad of the flexible cable, and an intermediate portion between the mating end and the tail;
• and
• a locking member movable between a pre-locked position and a locked position, the locking member configured to engage the outer housing in the pre-locked position, and configured to engage the housing, and the connecting portion of the flexible cable in the locked position so as to restrain movements therebetween.
