Abstract
The present disclosure describes metal-supported solid oxide electrochemical cells (MS-SOCs), including a ceramic electrochemical assembly interposed between porous electrode structures, an unsintered, porous metallic support, and an electrically conductive bonding layer. The ultra-thin ceramic electrochemical assembly can include an electrolyte layer. The electrolyte layer can have a thickness of 0.1 micrometer to 10 micrometers. The present disclosure also describes applications in fuel cell stacks, portable power generators, and hybrid energy systems, and methods of fabrication and use.
