Abstract
A cathode active material for a secondary battery and a secondary battery including the same are provided. The cathode active material for a secondary battery includes an active material core and a coating material formed on the surface of the active material core. The coating material includes niobium (Nb) as a coating element, and further includes at least one of tungsten (W) and phosphorus (P). The coating material may reduce side reactions with the electrolyte and improve charge and discharge characteristics/Coulomb efficiency.
Claims15
A cathode active material for a secondary battery comprising:
- an active material core;
- and
- a coating material formed on the surface of the active material core,
- wherein the coating material comprises niobium (Nb) as a coating element, and further comprises at least one of tungsten (W) and phosphorus (P), and
- wherein the content of Nb is 40% by weight to 70% by weight, based on the total weight of Nb, W and P included in the coating material.
