Abstract
A secondary battery includes a positive electrode containing an N,N′-mono-8-quinolyl-o-phenylene-Ni complex and 2,5-dimethoxy-1,4-benzoquinone, a negative electrode containing magnesium, sodium, or calcium, and an electrolyte disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode.

A secondary battery comprising:
- a positive electrode containing an N,N′-mono-8-quinolyl-o-phenylene-Ni complex and 2,5-dimethoxy-1,4-benzoquinone;
- a negative electrode containing magnesium, sodium, or calcium;
- and
- an electrolyte disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode.
