Abstract
In one example, a reset switch assembly is provided. The reset switch assembly may include a reset button assembly, a slider, a leaf switch, and a trip coil assembly. The slider may have a at least a first slider position and a second slider position. In the first slider position, the trip coil assembly may engage the slider to the reset button assembly. The leaf switch may be biased to a closed position. In in the second slider position, the slider may maintain the leaf switch in an open position. In another example, a circuit interrupter including the reset switch assembly is provided.

A method of operating a reset switch assembly, the reset switch assembly including a reset button assembly, a slider with at least a first slider position and a second slider position, a leaf switch, and a trip coil assembly, the method comprising:
- energizing a trip coil of the trip coil assembly;
- moving a trip iron core of the trip iron core assembly against a bias of a trip coil spring of the trip coil assembly;
- disengaging the trip iron core from a slider side opening of the slider and a reset rod locking hole of the reset button assembly;
- and
- moving the slider from the first position to the second position;
- and
- separating a first blade and a second blade of the leaf switch to open the leaf switch.
A method of operating a reset switch assembly, the reset switch assembly including a reset button assembly, a slider with at least a first slider position and a second slider position, a leaf switch;
- and a trip coil assembly, the method comprising:
- manually pressing a reset button of the reset button assembly to cause downward movement of the reset button assembly;
- aligning the trip iron core with a slider side opening of the slider and a reset rod locking hole of the reset button assembly;
- engaging the trip iron core with the slider side opening and the reset rod locking hole to engage the slider with the reset button assembly;
- manually releasing the reset button;
- moving the reset assembly upward via action of a reset spring of the reset button assembly;
- moving the slider from a second position to a first position via engagement of the slider with the reset button assembly;
- and
- permitting a first blade and a second blade of the leaf switch to close.
