Abstract
Bottle-brush lubricants are provided. One such lubricant for hard disk drives has the formula (I): where R1 is a linear or branched side group R5, R2 is F or an optional anchoring functional group, R3 and R4 mug ling functional group, n=1 to 20 and m=5 to 200. R1 can be a fluoroalkyl, fluoroalkenyl, perfluoroalkyl, or perfluoroalkyl ether moiety optionally having a cyclic or aromatic substituent.

A lubricant comprising:
- a plurality of segments according to general formula (I):
- where R1 is a linear or branched side chain terminating in an anchoring functional group R5, R2 is F or an optional anchoring functional group, R3 and R4 are independent moieties containing an anchoring functional group, n=1 to 20 and m=5 to 200.
A lubricant comprising:
- a plurality of segments according to general formula (III):
- where Ra is a linker, R1 is a linear or branched side chain terminating in an anchoring functional group R5, R2 and R3 are independent moieties containing an anchoring functional group, and m=5 to 200.
