Abstract

According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording device includes a magnetic head and a controller. The magnetic head includes a first magnetic pole, a second magnetic pole, a third magnetic pole, a fourth magnetic pole, and a coil. A second direction from the third magnetic pole to the fourth magnetic pole crosses a first direction from the first magnetic pole to the second magnetic pole. The controller includes a coil current circuit configured to supply a coil current to the coil to generate a magnetic field from the first magnetic pole according to the coil current, and a magnetic pole current circuit configured to supply a magnetic pole current between the third magnetic pole and the fourth magnetic pole. A polarity of the magnetic pole current changes according to a polarity of the coil current.
