Pediatric clinical training systems and related methods

Abstract

Training kit systems for infant examination are generally described. A training kit system may help train healthcare trainees on proper pelvic examination to determine the state of the infant's testes. In some embodiments, the training kit system may train a healthcare trainee to identify cryptorchidism conditions in an infant. The training kit system may include one or more partial infant torso manikins which may exhibit different testis conditions, such a normal scrotal testis, a palpable inguinal undescended testis, nonpalpable undescended testis, and palpable retractile testis. The trainee may be tasked with performing physical examinations on the manikins to help distinguish the various conditions. In some embodiments, the manikins may include testis simulators which may be palpable through the skin of the manikin, and may further be mobile relative to a portion of the manikin to mimic the testes' natural movement.
