A tactile sensing device and method for a computing system include a movable component, a non-movable component, a spring, and a tactile switch. The movable component is engaged with the non-movable component in a first position and disengaged from the non-movable component in a second position. The spring is attached to the movable component and has a spring arm. The tactile switch is in contact with the non-movable component. The tactile switch has a tactile arm. In the first position, the tactile arm is in direct contact with and compressed by the spring arm. In response to movement of the movable component from the first position to the second position, the spring arm moves out of contact with the tactile arm causing the tactile switch to output an alert that the movable component is in the second position.
