Display control device for selecting item on basis of speech

A display device comprising:

• a display screen;
• a remote control interface configured to receive a user input including at least one of a voice utterance and a remote control operation;
• and
• controller circuitry configured to control a user interface displayed on the display screen,
• wherein the controller circuitry is configured to:
• display a menu including a plurality of selectable items arranged along a first direction,
• the menu including at least one item that is not initially visible on the display screen;
• receive the user input designating a menu item;
• and
• in response to the user input, automatically scroll the menu in the first direction to display the designated menu item that was not initially visible on the display screen, without requiring an additional user input.

A display apparatus comprising circuitry configured to:

• receive a user input designating an item, the user input including at least one of a voice utterance and a remote control operation;
• control display of a menu on a display screen, the menu including a plurality of selectable items arranged such that at least one selectable item is not initially visible on the display screen;
• and
• in response to the user input, automatically modify the display of the menu to display the designated selectable item that was not initially visible,
• wherein the circuitry is configured to modify the display of the menu without requiring an additional user input after receipt of the user input designating the item.
