Determining data migration priorities in a memory sub-system

A method comprising:

• performing a scan operation to detect one or more errors in a memory block of a plurality of memory blocks of a memory device;
• determining, based on a result of the scan operation, to perform a data migration operation to move data from one or more memory segments of the memory device to one or more other memory segments of the memory device, wherein the one or more memory segments of the memory device include at least one page of the memory block;
• performing the data migration operation at a first priority level;
• monitoring a read count of the memory block during the data migration operation;
• and
• responsive to detecting that the read count is greater than or equal to a read count threshold, switching from performing the data migration operation at the first priority level to performing the data migration operation at a second priority level that is higher than the first priority level.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed by a processing device, cause the processing device to perform operations comprising:

• performing a scan operation to detect one or more errors in a memory block of a plurality of memory blocks of a memory device;
• determining, based on a result of the scan operation, to perform a data migration operation to move data from one or more memory segments of the memory device to one or more other memory segments of the memory device, wherein the one or more memory segments of the memory device include at least one page of the memory block;
• performing the data migration operation at a first priority level;
• monitoring a read count of the memory block during the data migration operation;
• and
• responsive to detecting that the read count is greater than or equal to a read count threshold, switching from performing the data migration operation at the first priority level to performing the data migration operation at a second priority level that is higher than the first priority level.
