Abstract
Methods and systems are disclosed for detecting whether a wearable device is being worn by a user. The system transmits a radio signal from a first communication device of a wearable device to a second communication device of the wearable device and measures a signal strength associated with the radio signal received by the second communication device. The system compares the signal strength to a threshold value and generates an indication of a wear status associated with the wearable device based on comparing the signal strength to the threshold value.
Claims20
A system comprising:
- at least one processor of a device;
- and
- a memory component having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:
- directing a first radio signal comprising radio surface waves from a first communication device to a second communication device using one or more beamforming techniques;
- generating a second radio signal without using the one or more beamforming techniques to determine that a wearable device is not being worn;
- measuring a signal strength associated with the first radio signal or the second radio signal received by the second communication device;
- and
- generating an indication of a wear status associated with the wearable device based on comparing of the signal strength to a threshold value.
A method comprising:
- directing a first radio signal comprising radio surface waves from a first communication device to a second communication device using one or more beamforming techniques;
- generating a second radio signal without using the one or more beamforming techniques to determine that a wearable device is not being worn;
- measuring a signal strength associated with the first radio signal or the second radio signal received by the second communication device;
- and
- generating an indication of a wear status associated with the wearable device based on comparing of the signal strength to a threshold value.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored thereon instructions that, when executed by at least one processor of a device, cause the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:
- directing a first radio signal comprising radio surface waves from a first communication device to a second communication device using one or more beamforming techniques;
- generating a second radio signal without using the one or more beamforming techniques to determine that a wearable device is not being worn;
- measuring a signal strength associated with the first radio signal or the second radio signal received by the second communication device;
- and
- generating an indication of a wear status associated with the wearable device based on comparing of the signal strength to a threshold value.
