Abstract
Provided is an image forming apparatus including: a photoreceptor drum; a developer carrier; a cleaning member that removes transfer residual toner remaining on the photoreceptor drum after transfer to a transfer body; an optical sensor that detects a toner amount of fog toner; and a hardware processor that sets a fog margin. The hardware processor predicts a charge distribution of toner in a developing apparatus based on a fog transfer characteristic, calculates a transfer residual fog toner amount by using the sensor output corresponding to the set fog margin and transfer efficiency set in association with the charge distribution, and sets the fog margin such that the transfer residual fog toner amount is equal to or greater than a first target value set in advance.
Claims7
An image forming apparatus, comprising:
- a photoreceptor drum;
- a developer carrier that supplies toner to the photoreceptor drum;
- a cleaning member that removes transfer residual toner remaining on the photoreceptor drum after transfer to a transfer body;
- an optical sensor that detects a toner amount of fog toner;
- and
- a hardware processor that sets a fog margin, wherein
- the hardware processor
- predicts a charge distribution of toner in a developing apparatus based on a fog transfer characteristic indicating a sensor output of the optical sensor when the fog margin is changed in a stepwise manner,
- calculates a transfer residual fog toner amount by using the sensor output corresponding to the set fog margin and transfer efficiency set in association with the charge distribution, and
- sets the fog margin such that the transfer residual fog toner amount is equal to or greater than a first target value set in advance.
