Sheet conveyance apparatus and image forming apparatus

A sheet conveyance apparatus comprising:

• a first conveyance unit configured to convey a sheet;
• a second conveyance unit disposed downstream of the first conveyance unit in a sheet conveyance direction by the first conveyance unit, the second conveyance unit including a first roller and a second roller, the first roller and the second roller being configured to convey the sheet while nipping the sheet, the second conveyance unit being configured to convey the sheet in a first conveyance direction and subsequently convey the sheet in a second conveyance direction opposite to the first conveyance direction in a state in which the first roller and the second roller are in contact with the sheet;
• a first conveyance path configured to guide the sheet that is conveyed from the first conveyance unit to the second conveyance unit;
• a second conveyance path connected to the first conveyance path at a first connection portion, the second conveyance path being configured to guide the sheet that is conveyed in the second conveyance direction by the second conveyance unit;
• a drive unit configured to drive the first conveyance unit and the second conveyance unit;
• and
• a control unit configured to control the drive unit,
• wherein, in a case where a preceding sheet is conveyed from the second conveyance unit to the second conveyance path and a succeeding sheet is conveyed to the first conveyance path, the control unit is configured to control the drive unit such that a leading edge of the succeeding sheet reaches the first connection portion in a state in which a trailing edge of the preceding sheet is positioned between the first connection portion and the second conveyance unit.
