A self-contained fire control unit for striker-fired firearms that includes a rigid housing containing a primary sear and a striker-release member. The primary sear acts as a mechanical stop to lock the striker-release member in a position to restrain a spring-loaded striker. Potential energy from the striker provides a biasing force that assists in displacing the striker-release member to a release position upon movement of the primary sear to an unlocked position. A lateral-displacement disconnector system utilizes a transverse actuator pin on the primary sear, which is displaced laterally inward by a slide-driven disconnector to facilitate high-speed trigger reset. A secondary disconnector is configured to translate in response to rearward pressure from a striker lug to temporarily unlock the primary sear, permitting bidirectional passage of the striker. The assembly includes a safety-blocking interlock between a trigger bar extension and the actuator pin to prevent accidental discharge.
