Abstract
A firearm recoil buffer comprises a buffer body adapted to reciprocate in a buffer tube of a firearm, the buffer body having a longitudinal open interior passageway, the buffer body adapted to compress a recoil spring during rearward travel of the buffer body, whereby liquid flows through the passageway of the buffer body as the buffer body reciprocates.
Claims11
A firearm recoil buffer for use with a buffer tube and recoil spring of a firearm, the firearm recoil buffer comprising:
- a buffer body adapted to reciprocate in the buffer tube,
- the buffer body having a longitudinal open interior passageway and a plurality of flats on an external surface thereof spaced circumferentially therearound, the buffer body adapted to compress the recoil spring during rearward travel of the buffer body,
- whereby liquid flows through the passageway of the buffer body as the buffer body reciprocates.
(canceled)
A firearm recoil buffer system, comprising:
- a firearm buffer tube,
- a recoil buffer disposed and configured to reciprocate in the buffer tube and having a longitudinal open interior passageway, the longitudinal open interior passageway having a forward portion and a rearward portion separated by an annular shoulder of the recoil buffer, and
- a recoil spring disposed in the buffer tube, the recoil spring having a forward end disposed in the rearward portion of the longitudinal open interior passageway of the recoil buffer such that the forward end mates against the annular shoulder of the recoil buffer, the recoil buffer configured to compress the recoil spring during rearward travel of the recoil buffer,
- whereby liquid flows through the passageway of the recoil buffer as the recoil buffer reciprocates.
A firearm, comprising:
- an upper receiver having a bolt carrier disposed and configured to reciprocate therein,
- a lower receiver having a buffer tube extending rearwardly therefrom,
- a recoil buffer disposed and configured to reciprocate in the buffer tube and having a longitudinal open interior passageway, the longitudinal open interior passageway having a forward portion and a rearward portion separated by an internal shoulder of the recoil buffer, and
- a recoil spring disposed in the buffer tube, the recoil spring having a forward end disposed in the rearward portion of the longitudinal open interior passageway such that the forward end abuts the internal shoulder of the recoil buffer, the bolt carrier having a rearward end abutting a forward end of the recoil buffer, the bolt carrier causing rearward travel of the recoil buffer to compress the recoil spring during rearward travel of the bolt carrier,
- whereby liquid flows through the passageway of the recoil buffer as the recoil buffer reciprocates.
