Abstract
A pressure control system configured to respond to high-pressure conditions in a fluid conduit is disclosed. The system generally includes first and second flow restrictors positionable inline on a fluid conduit and configured to block fluid flow in the conduit and respond to a high-pressure event to allow fluid flow therethrough. The first flow restrictor is position upstream from the second flow restrictor and may open to allow fluid flow in response to the high-pressure event. The second flow restrictor provides adjustable flow of fluid therethrough or may open a bypass line in response to the high-pressure event to allow unrestricted fluid flow therethrough.
Claims19
A flow restrictor comprising:
- a first channel configured to provide a fluid flow of a first flow rate;
- a first valve configured to control fluid flow through the first channel;
- a second channel that bypasses the first channel, wherein the second channel is configured to provide a fluid flow of a second flow rate;
- and
- a second valve configured to control fluid flow through the second channel,
- wherein the second flow rate is greater than the first flow rate, and the second valve is configured to be opened based on a high-pressure event.
A flow restrictor comprising:
- a body having a longitudinal bore and a radial port;
- a perforation configured to provide a fluid path through the body;
- and
- a plunger configured to move relative to the radial port to control fluid flow from the longitudinal bore to the perforation.
A flow restrictor comprising:
- a body having a longitudinal bore, a radial port, and a bypass port;
- a perforation configured to provide a fluid path through the body;
- a plunger configured to move relative to the radial port to control fluid flow from the longitudinal bore to the perforation;
- a bypass perforation configured to bypass the perforation;
- and
- a piston configured to move relative to the bypass port to control fluid flow from the longitudinal bore to the bypass perforation.
