Abstract
A gate valve has a first housing having a passageway therethrough, a valve member, and a cable pull mechanism. The valve member is moveable in the housing to selectively open and close the passageway to selectively permit and restrict flow through the passageway. The cable pull mechanism includes a cable sheath, a cable, and a second housing. The cable sheath has a first end, a second end, a passageway extending from the first end to the second end, and a recess. The cable extends through the passageway of the cable sheath and has a first end connected to the valve member and a second end. The second housing has clamping mechanism having a projection located in the recess of the cable sheath.
Claims14
A gate valve, including:
- a housing having a first section, a second section, and a third section located between the first section and the second section, the third section having a lower section and an upper section, each of the first section, the second section, and the third section of the housing having a passageway therethrough;
- a valve member located in the third section of the housing and moveable between the lower section and the upper section to selectively open and close the gate valve to selectively permit and restrict flow through the passageways of the housing;
- and
- a cable pull mechanism having:
- a handle;
- a cable sheath having a first end, a plurality of recesses formed adjacent to the first end, a second end, and a passageway extending from the first end to the second end;
- a cable extending through the passageway of the cable sheath and having a first end connected to the valve member and a second end connected to the handle;
- and
- a housing having a first half, a second half, and a clamping mechanism, the clamping mechanism having:
- a pair of spaced apart projections extending from the first half of the housing and located in the recesses of the cable sheath, a first crimping member extending from the first half of the housing and pressed into the cable sheath, a pair of spaced apart recesses located in the second half of the housing for receiving the projections, and a second crimping member located between the recesses and pressed into the cable sheath.
A gate valve having:
- a first housing having a passageway therethrough;
- a valve member moveable in the housing to selectively open and close the passageway to selectively permit and restrict flow through the passageway;
- and
- a cable pull mechanism having:
- a cable sheath having a first end, a second end, a passageway extending from the first end to the second end, and a recess;
- a cable extending through the passageway of the cable sheath and having a first end connected to the valve member and a second end;
- and
- a second housing having a clamping mechanism, the clamping mechanism including a projection located in the recess of the cable sheath.
