Shock absorber

A shock absorber comprising:

• a shock absorber main body that includes an outer tube and a rod inserted into the outer tube so as to be movable in an axial direction and is configured to generate a damping force during extension and compression;
• an outer-tube-side spring seat that is attached to an outer periphery of the outer tube;
• a rod-side spring seat that is attached to the rod;
• a coil spring that is interposed between the outer-tube-side spring seat and the rod-side spring seat in a state in which the outer tube and the rod are inserted into an inner periphery of the coil spring;
• and
• a protector that covers a part of the outer periphery of the outer tube to prevent an interference between the coil spring and the outer tube, wherein
• a groove is provided on an outer periphery of a protector mounting portion on which the protector is mounted, and
• the protector includes a tubular protector main body and a fixing projection that is provided on an inner periphery of the protector main body and fitted into the groove to fix the protector main body to the outer tube.
