The present disclosure relates to a self-powered fan assembly comprising a lower heat exchanger, a thermoelectric generator module coupled to a motor that operates a fan, and an upper heat exchanger. The lower heat exchanger includes a first module landing with a first heat transfer surface and a heat transfer stem thermally coupling a heat source to the first module landing. A hot side of the thermoelectric generator module is thermally connected to the first heat transfer surface of the first module landing. The upper heat exchanger includes a second module landing having a second heat transfer surface which is thermally connected to a cool side of the thermoelectric generator module, a vane array for dissipating heat, and one or more heat pipes thermally coupling the second module landing to the vane array. The heat pipes allow for faster heat transfer between the second module landing and the vane array.
