Abstract
A foam form is adapted for quick and easy set up for pouring concrete. The foam form includes a wedge-shaped body having a vertical slot. A screed board is inserted into the slot, and fixed at a desired height by a plurality of fasteners extending through the board and into a fasting strip embedded in the foam body. The fasting strip precludes the fasteners from being accidentally pulled out of foam body. Fasting strips may be planar, or non-planar with protrusions to secure the fasting strip in the foam body.
Claims20
A foam form for construction of a concrete slab, comprising:
- a wedge-shaped body having a horizontal bottom surface to sit upon a ground surface, a vertical side surface to support poured concrete, and a sloped surface opposite the vertical side surface;
- a slot extending downwardly into the body and adapted to receive a screed board;
- a fastening strip embedded in the body between the slot and the side surface;
- whereby a depth of the screed board in the slot can be fixed by extending screws through the screed board and into the fastening strip.
A method of assembling a form for pouring a concrete slab, comprising:
- setting a wedge-shaped foam body onto a graded ground surface;
- inserting a screed board into a vertical slot in the body;
- fixing the screed board at a desired height in the slot by extending screws through the screed board and into a fastening strip embedded in the body.
A form for concrete, comprising:
- a foam body having a vertical slot;
- a screed board adapted to be inserted into the slot and extend above the foam body;
- at least one fastening strip embedded in the foam body;
- fasteners extendable through the screed board and into the fastening strip to temporarily secure the screed board to the foam body.
