Revolving flat card

A method or operating a revolving flat card, wherein the revolving flat card includes:

• a controller with an input module;
• a feed system that supplies fiber material;
• a machine frame;
• a cylinder fitted with a cylinder clothing and rotatably supported in the machine frame about a longitudinal axis;
• a revolving flat unit having a plurality of carding elements, wherein each carding element has a flat clothing and is held in the direction of the longitudinal axis on at least one flexible bow on each side of the cylinder;
• wherein a carding gap with a carding gap width is formed between an outer surface of the cylinder clothing and a plane of the flat clothings facing the cylinder clothing;
• a carding gap width measurement arrangement;
• an actuator configured to adjust the carding gap width by adjusting the flexible bows;
• and a drive configured to control a rotation speed of the cylinder;
• the method comprising:
• measuring a process temperature corresponding to a temperature prevailing in the fiber material in the carding gap;
• with the input module and the controller:
• entering a target process temperature and a corresponding maximum process temperature;
• entering a control range of the carding gap width and a maximum value of the carding gap width;
• and regulating the process temperature by adjusting any one or combination of:
• the carding gap width, feed of the fiber material from the feed system, and rotation speed of the cylinder.

A revolving flat card for processing fiber material, comprising:

• a controller with an input module;
• a feed system configured to feed fiber material;
• a machine frame;
• a cylinder fitted with a cylinder clothing and rotatably supported in the machine frame about a longitudinal axis;
• a revolving flat unit comprising a plurality of carding elements, wherein each carding element has a flat clothing and is held in the direction of the longitudinal axis on at least one flexible bow on each side of the cylinder;
• wherein a carding gap with a carding gap width is formed between an outer surface of the cylinder clothing and a plane of the flat clothings facing the cylinder clothing;
• a carding gap width measurement arrangement;
• an actuator configured to adjust the carding gap width by adjusting the flexible bows;
• a drive configured to control a rotation speed of the cylinder;
• a process temperature measurement device, wherein the process temperature corresponds to a temperature prevailing in the fiber material in the carding gap;
• wherein the input module and controller are configured for entering:
• a target process temperature and associated maximum process temperature, a control range of the carding gap width, and a maximum value of the carding gap width;
• and
• wherein the controller is configured to regulate the target process temperature by adjusting any one or combination of:
• the carding gap width, feed of the fiber material from the feed system, and rotation speed of the cylinder.
