Abstract
A method for manufacturing molten pig iron into an electrical smelting furnace 13, the method including the following successive steps: providing a directly reduced iron product, providing a carbon containing material, feeding at least a part of the smelting furnace with the DRI product in alternance with the carbon containing material, melting the DRI Product and the carbon containing material to produce molten pig iron. It also deals with the manufacturing of steel from the pig iron.

A method for manufacturing molten pig iron into an electrical smelting furnace, the method comprising the following successive steps of:
- providing a directly reduced iron product;
- providing a carbon containing material;
- feeding at least a part of the smelting furnace with the DRI product in alternance with the carbon containing material;
- and
- melting the DRI product and the carbon containing material to produce the molten pig iron.
