Abstract
Disclosed herein is a polymer composition containing a polymer, carbon particles and a laser absorbing additive, where at least a part of the surface of the polymer composition absorbs less infrared radiation than the bulk.

A polymer composition comprising
- a polymer,
- carbon particles, and
- a laser absorbing additive,
- wherein at least a part of a surface of the polymer composition absorbs less infrared radiation than a bulk.

A method for decreasing the infrared absorbance of a carbon particle comprising polymer composition at its surface comprising
- a. providing a polymer composition comprising a polymer, carbon particles and a laser absorbing additive;
- and
- b. exposing at least a part of the polymer composition to laser radiation.
A method of using a laser absorbing additive, the method comprising using the absorbing additive to decrease the infrared absorbance of a carbon particle comprising polymer composition at a surface of the carbon particle-comprising polymer composition.
