Abstract
The present invention relates to a process for preparation of 1-methyl-(3-trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazole compounds of formula (I) and (III), which are useful as intermediates for agrochemicals.

A process for preparation of a compound of formula (III), the process comprising:
- reacting a compound of formula (II) with chlorodifluoromethane at a temperature less than about 30° C. to obtain the compound of formula (III).
A process for preparation of a compound of formula (I), the process comprising:
- reacting a compound of formula (III) with paraformaldehyde and a chlorinating agent in absence of an organic solvent to obtain the compound of formula (I).
A process for preparation of a compound of formula (I), the process comprising:
- (a) reacting a compound of formula (II) with chlorodifluoromethane at a temperature less than about 30° C. to obtain a compound of formula (III);
- and
- (b) reacting the compound of formula (III) with paraformaldehyde and a chlorinating agent to obtain the compound of formula (I).
