Abstract
The invention relates to recovering lithium, e.g. for commercial products, such as lithium hydroxide monohydrate, lithium carbonate or low sodium lithium carbonate from solids resources with minimized energy consumption.
Claims21
A method for recovering lithium from raw material, comprising following steps:
- a) adding an anion (A), as a component of a salt or an acid, to lithium containing material, wherein anion (A) is added to an aqueous leach solution in order to separate lithium from the aqueous leach solution, wherein lithium is selectively extracted from the leach solution into a separate lithium-containing phase by a transfer to a solid adsorbent or to a liquid organic phase;
- followed by
- b) a subsequent transfer or re-extraction of lithium, e.g. as salt LiaA, back into an aqueous solution or aqueous re-extraction solution.
