Abstract
A recording apparatus includes a conveyance path configured to convey a medium in a conveyance direction; a recording unit configured to perform recording on the medium, and to move in a direction in which the recording unit advances and retreats with respect to the conveyance path; a cleaning unit configured to clean the recording unit by moving with respect to the recording unit; and a restriction portion configured to switch between a restriction state in which movement of the recording unit is restricted and a restriction release state in which the movement of the recording unit is not restricted in accordance with an action of the cleaning unit.

A recording apparatus comprising:
- a conveyance path configured to convey a medium in a conveyance direction;
- a recording unit configured to perform recording on the medium, and to move in a direction in which the recording unit advances and retreats with respect to the conveyance path;
- a cleaning unit configured to clean the recording unit by moving with respect to the recording unit;
- and
- a restriction portion configured to switch between a restriction state in which movement of the recording unit is restricted and a restriction release state in which the movement of the recording unit is not restricted in accordance with an action of the cleaning unit.
