Printer and maintenance method of ink absorbing roller

A printer, comprising:

• an inkjet head having a nozzle opening plane having an opening from which ink is ejected;
• a wiper contacting the nozzle opening plane of the inkjet head to wipe off ink from the nozzle opening plane;
• an ink absorbing roller rotatably supported about a predetermined rotation axis;
• a squeezing member;
• and
• a moving mechanism configured to move the squeezing member relative to the ink absorbing roller in a moving direction orthogonal to the rotation axis,
• wherein the ink absorbing roller contacts the wiper to absorb ink from the wiper, to thereby clean the wiper,
• the moving mechanism moves the squeezing member relative to the ink absorbing roller in the moving direction while the squeezing member is in contact with the ink absorbing roller, to thereby causes the squeezing member to squeeze ink from the ink absorbing roller, and
• the ink absorbing roller rotates, following the squeezing member which moves relatively in the moving direction.
